DrMadhvi: thanks for your response. Yes I should have gone for a second opinion. I am not defending the alternate system docs- At that time we were not sure- any significant improvement was attributed to their medicine. My decision making was also clouded during this time by my father's fast failing health and consequent death. That's no excuse really. I am confident about the doctors who are attending to him now. I am sure he will recover fully. Thanks so much.

I am with you and I want to add another angle to this Spinal problem. My wife was identified with Cervical Spondylitis in December 2007. We also went by the advice of ORTHO--and started painkillers plus physiotherapy.----But she suddenly collapsed on 16 jan 2008--MRI showed two discs c-5 & c-6 were damaged and immediate operation was the only answer. The doctors thought it was BONE TB---90 percent cases in india it is this.

The operation was conducted on 19 jan 2008---and treatment for BONE TB started---all this backfired and she did not respond. By 29 jan 2008 her condition was so worsened that she could not move. The nuero Surgeon who conducted the operation was shaken ' The auto psy report of the bone revealed it was FUNGAL INFECTION---OSTEOMELITIS---CRYPTO COCCAL--A very rare kind of Spinal problem caused by PIGEON DRPPING. It happens to one in millions.  The causes are BONE INJECTION: DIABETES; LIMB TRANSPLANTATION or BLOOD TRANSFUSION. Surprisingly my wife had none.

It is four months since operation, my wife has now begun to move around in the house only. She has been on the only DRUG--AMPHOTERRICINE--which have a too many side effects from heart to GB to Kidney. Doctors have to be careful in its administeration. It was intravenous injection everyday for SIX WEEKS and since 29 February she has been on FLUCANZOLE for 12 weeks. The recovery is very slow--Doctors say she has to put on the COLLAR for other 4 months. she can not get down the stairs and can not turn our head. she had been totally bedridden for three months.

I must tell you that my wife was lean and thin--she used to go for 3-4 kms walk every day--Very particular on hygiene--she never had been to hospital for the past 33 years. My suggestion is not to take back pain lightly---Get Your X-Ray done---If need be GO FOR MRI--Otherwise it becomes a very serious problem----The neuro -surgeon who catrried out this operation told me that It was generally avoided by all NEURO-SURGEON because the RISK INVOLVED is very great---a small mistake may cost life or paralyse.

Therefore DO NOT TAKE BACKPAIN LIGHTLY. DO NOT GO TO ONLY ORTHOPAEDIC SURGEONS ONLY--CONSULT NUREO PHYSICIAN/SURGEON also. Regards. Rajee.

I know you are distressed but If you analyse sequence of events...you go to an ortho who diagnoses it as spondylosis...you go to an ayurvedic...get relief... then why did you shift to homeo? you get relief again but your child loses weight and has a swelling. He wasn't improving!!
let me tell you certain diseases take time to evolve...TB spine may not show in initial stages...if you had persisted or taken second opinion after sometime perhaps diagnosis could have been made earlier...
kocks spine can neither be diagnosed nor can it be treated by ayurvedic or homeo treatment.....that is why the disease reached that stage.
While the disease got worse with their treatment, I don't understand why you are defending them?
allopathic has excellent diagnostic and treatment facilities for this, with complete cure.

Of course no symptom shd ever be ignored especially when they are persistent.
I am sure your son will recover completely...I wish him well.
